Communications Intern - CLOSED
Check back soon for the fall application window!
The Communications Intern supports the Client Services team in the day-to-day needs of client accounts, while gaining knowledge of the public relations field. Interns work directly with assigned strategists executing tactical assignments but are also given individual projects from which they can learn and develop their skill set. This hands-on approach allows interns to build their resumes and portfolios.
As the activities of a public relations practitioner vary daily, hourly and even by the minute, Intern activities can include administrative support, research, account assistance, design work, social media engagement, special event support and media relations. Regardless, the internship will definitely include bedrock public relations skills of research, writing and editing.
Gambel Communications' Internship Program is a 3-to-4-month hands-on experience designed for collegiate upperclassmen aimed at developing core public relations concepts and strategies desired in most entry-level public relations positions. Gambel Communications prides itself on offering a competitive opportunity with real client experience that will set aspiring professionals apart from their peers entering the public relations field.
This is a paid internship. Intern candidates will be available for a minimum of 15 hours a week. The flexible schedule will be in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and/or Fridays.
Expectations:
Have experience and interest in media writing (AP Style) and social media content creation
Manage time efficiently
Maintain the highest professional standards
Honor the confidentiality of our clients and our agency
Report regularly on time spent, activity and results to ensure proper client billing
Consume news daily to understand the media landscape
Individuals who will be the most successful at this role will have experience writing press releases, blogs and writing copy for social media. Additional skills in graphic design using Adobe and/or Canva is a plus.
