Construction Begins on Parkway Apartments

parkwayNEW ORLEANS (January 29, 2018) — Developers Denzel Clark of Citadel Builders, C. Mohan Kailas of Kailas Companies, and Todd Trosclair today announced that they have secured financing and started construction on Parkway Apartments at 4650 Washington Ave., in New Orleans, LA. The $40 million development features 207 luxury one and two-bedroom apartments; 13,776 square feet of prime retail space on two major thoroughfares; and 313 secure parking spaces. This is the first large-scale, ground-up new construction in the Mid-City area of New Orleans in recent history.

“Parkway Apartments will set the standard for luxury apartment living in the Broadmoor and Mid-City areas,” said C. Mohan Kailas. “The community boasts a rooftop pool and gardens, luxury amenities, and a great location only a few minutes away from New Orleans’ CBD.”

Parkway Apartments will occupy one city block on the corner of South Jefferson Davis Parkway and Washington Avenue, located across the street from Xavier University. The convenience of the location will allow residents quick travel to downtown via Washington Avenue and City Park via Jefferson Davis Parkway.

Hank Smith of Harry Baker Smith Architects II, PLLC designed Parkway Apartments in a modern and eco-conscious style. Utilizing ENERGY STAR green building standards, Parkway maximizes sustainable design wherever possible. The apartment community is designed around an elevated park, with private balconies and design-forward finishes in the apartments and public spaces. The units are designed to position Parkway Apartments among the top apartment communities in New Orleans.

Amenities will include a fully-equipped fitness center with CrossFit style equipment, a large ballroom with catering kitchen, and a Conference Center where residents can work or study with the help of the latest technology. The elevated gardens and park will host large, open-air gazebos; BBQ picnic areas; a swimming pool; and extensive landscaping including grass and full-size trees. Citadel Builders is the general contractor, and construction is expected to be complete in Spring of 2019.
